Tuff-N-Uff returns to South Point Arena for May 25 “FESTIBRAWL”

Memorial Day weekend traditionally brings big events to Sin City, and this year’s holiday is no different.

On Friday, May 25, “Tuff-N-Uff: The Future Stars of MMA” gets the weekend started off right with a return to Las Vegas’ South Point Arena for “FESTIBRAWL.”

With a full 15-bout lineup of high-level MMA contests in addition to live music, free beer sampling and gourmet food trucks, the “FESTIBRAWL” continues Tuff-N-Uff’s tradition of bringing you food, fun and furious action as the nation’s best amateur fighters meet in the cage.

“We’re anxious to return again to South Point Arena for what looks to be another night of incredible entertainment,” Tuff-N-Uff president Barry Meyer said. “We’re going to bring Las Vegas another night full of the sport’s best amateurs. Add in the free beer sampling, the live music and the gourmet food trucks, and this is going to be a can’t-miss night of fun.”

In one of the night’s featured fights, females take the cage as Jillian Lybarger (4-4) defends her Tuff-N-Uff 115-pound title against undefeated challenger Stephanie Gonzalez (5-0).

After opening her career at just 1-3, Lybarger has settled into her natural weightclass at 115 pounds and has rattled off three-straight wins. Now she faces the undefeated Gonzalez, who downed Lybarger’s twin sister, Jocelyn Lybarger, via split decision earlier this year.

“We’ve promoted more than 100 female fights under the Tuff-N-Uff banner, and we remain committed to finding the nation’s best up-and-coming female talent,” Meyer said. “In 2011, it was current Strikeforce champ Ronda Rousey who came through our ranks and burst onto the professional scene. I’m hoping we can find another female star or two this year, as well.”

In an intriguing matchup of debutants, 18-year-old Montel Williams Jr. (0-0), an Xtreme Couture product and the son of famed talk-show host Montel Williams, enters the cage against fellow newcomer Charles Weist (0-0)

Additionally, Tuff-N-Uff will crown a 145-pound tournament champion, as 10th Planet product Rick James (2-0) meets Xtreme Couture’s Josh Grevas (3-1). In April, both fighters earned impressive victories in the four-man tournament’s opening round, and the final match looks sure to please.

And if you’re a fan of the big boys, you won’t want to miss the super-heavyweight matchup between Walter Downing (2-2) and Charles Williams (4-0), a bout that boasts nearly 700 pounds of firepower.

In addition to the night’s featured contests, a full lineup of aspiring amateur fighters from some of the world’s top academies – including 10th Planet Riverside, One Kick Nick’s, Throwdown, Wand Fight Team, Werdum Fight Team and Xtreme Couture – will compete at Tuff-N-Uff’s May 25 event.
